Skin Revitalization- Vascular & Pigmented Lesions Q and A
What types of problems can be addressed during skin revitalization treatment?
Skin revitalization treatment at San Pedro Laser Center can help with a number of skin issues, including:
- Vascular lesions
- Pigmented lesions
- Sun damage
- Uneven skin tone
- Fine lines
How does the ICON laser eliminate vascular and pigmented skin lesions?
The ICON laser delivers fractional non-ablative laser light directly into the unwanted pigment or vascular lesions. This causes the pigment to break up into many tiny particles that are reabsorbed into the bloodstream for elimination. The vascular lesions will constrict and then eventually be reabsorbed by the body and eliminated. Additionally, the ICON laser sends energy deep within the skin to stimulate the production of new collagen. This helps fill in skin depressions and fine lines to create a smoother and more youthful look for the skin.
How are treatments customized for you?
The ICON laser is used alongside a Skintel® Melanin Reader™. The Skintel Melanin Reader is a highly advanced type of technology that measures your skin’s melanin index, which allows for your treatment provider to choose the best custom treatment settings for your laser treatment. This allows for optimal results based on your individual needs and skin type.
What kind of results can you expect after skin revitalization treatment?
Results can include:
- A decrease in the intensity of sun spots
- Smoother skin
- A reduction in fine lines
- A lessening of vascular lesion intensity
- Overall improved skin tone
How many treatment sessions will you need?
Many patients need to have only one treatment, but this does depend on your specific skin problems and concerns. Once the results of the first treatment are fully evident, you can opt for additional treatments if you want further skin refining. Each treatment session is less than half an hour long.
Will you need any downtime?
No — in fact, most patients are able to return to their regular lifestyle as soon as their skin revitalization treatment is complete. You may have some temporary redness and swelling, so avoid the sun for at least a few days after your treatment.
*Individual results may vary.
